CRUISE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

My first cruise from the Port of Miami was in 1974. This was the era of the AIR/SEA cruise. We flew from Philadelphia to MIA on a cold December morning for our two week cruise on Royal Caribbean's Sun Viking. This was small-ship cruising and doubt most folks today would venture out on a 18,500 ton, 563' foot long ship, let alone for two weeks.

MSC has just signed an agreement to build a new terminal for their newest ships. NCL and Royal are also building new terminals with Royals slated to open this year to accommodate Symphony of the Seas. NCL's Encore, arriving in 2019 will have a new terminal as well.
